The Nintendo Switch is remarkably portable. Its dock and charger, less so. Genki is looking to fix that. The company has started a Kickstarter campaign that has already beaten its initial funding goal by a factor of 10. It’s a fantastic start to the fundraising campaign for Genki, but the giddy level of support they’ve received highlights the need for such a product.
The Covert Dock is the same size as many charging bricks that are strewn all over American households. And that diminutive size and ultra-portable nature make it very appealing. You would be free to travel with your Switch wherever, comfortable in the knowledge that you can charge it and connect it to televisions at a whim. The Nintendo Switch is a marvel of design, but the Covert Dock supplies a needed product in a lacking area.
The simplicity of the product also deserves recognition. A USB-C cable connects the Switch to the dock, which is plugged into an outlet. After that, the only thing that needs to be done is to connect the dock to a TV via an HDMI cable. That’s it.
A simple gadget like that can really broaden the freedom with which Switch owners can access the full benefits of their Switch, practically anywhere. Genki’s design here is commendable, and we’re ready to see it in action!
