Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic many high profile events have been cancelled including E3, Pax West, GDC, and even Gamescom. All of these cancellations have left those of us who love the spectacle of game reveals at such events with little to look forward to throughout the remainder of 2020. It turns out we may soon get to look forward to a little spectacle this summer after all though as Geoff Keighley has just dropped an announcement for Summer Game Fest. Check out the trailer below.
Summer Game Fest will begin this month and last for 4 months until the end of August. Through that time a number of digital presentations and in-game events will be hosted to connect players with upcoming content. Best of all the entire event is going to be accessible to everyone directly from their homes! One of the currently confirmed events is a developer showcase with Iam8bit but otherwise, the list of events is still under wraps. An official website for the Summer Game Fest has gone live but it doesn’t currently have much in the way of information aside from doing an email sign-up to be notified when events do go live.
In wake of all the other huge game events shutting down, I am excited to know Summer Game Fest will be a thing. What do you all think about the idea?
