Go Behind The Scenes Of TONY HAWK'S SKATE JAM Now On Android

Mobile game design brings a host of UX challenges not faced by consoles. We spoke with the team behind Tony Hawk's Skate Jam to learn how they tackled these problems using Adobe XD.

The Tony Hawk series has kick flipped its way onto mobile devices with the December release of Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam for IOS. Android players can now also experience the thrills of Tony Hawk on the go as Skate Jam released on the Play Store yesterday. With yesterday’s release a new behind the scenes blog post has also been released detailing the development process.

Maple Media, the Team behind Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam, is no stranger to developing skateboarding games for mobile devices. but when work began on Skate Jam they knew the expectations would be high for a game bearing the Tony Hawk name. working closely with Tony Hawk himself during the design process has seen the game being positively received among mobile players.

Bringing the game to Android also brought about another set of hurdles with devices of many different sizes and specs having to be considered for playability. Utilizing Adobe tools ensured the team was able to scale the UX accordingly per device and screen size/aspect ratio.
