Xbox has recently announced that Xbox Live Gold, which has been a staple subscription service for Microsoft for nearly 2 decades, is transitioning into something new. The new subscription service is now a part of the Xbox Game Pass family as the introductory tier. The good news is that not much is changing for current Xbox Live Gold subscribers and the transition will be seamless. Let’s check out the details below.
On September 14th, Xbox Live Gold will rebrand itself as Xbox Game Pass Core and will offer the same benefits such as online multiplayer, Free Play Days of fully featured games, deals and discounts up to 50% off, and the same monthly price of $9.99. However, the new Xbox Game Pass Core Subscription will replace the 2 free monthly games with a library of over 25 playable high-profile titles from the Game Pass library. So it is time to say goodbye to the free monthly games. The good news is that all of your existing claimed free games will remain in your library even after the transition to Xbox Game Pass Core.
The Xbox community seems to have responded to this news with mixed reactions but ultimately there isn’t much changing here. It is also worth mentioning that current subscribers do not have to change anything to take advantage of this new service. Check out the full breakdown here.
