The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is an HD-2D role-playing title from Square-Enix that features a lot of similarities to Nintendo’s beloved franchise, The Legend of Zelda. While it does plenty of new and intriguing things, action-RPG fans will find themselves familiar with a lot of what is on offer here, meaning it just might feel like home for those with a long-running investment in the genre. But is The Adventures of Elliot is long as the games it’s inspired by? Is it shorter? Let’s talk about it.
How long does it take to beat The Adventures of Elliot?
The Adventures of Elliot is a journey across multiple ages with a significant focus on thoughtful exploration and some puzzle solving. You can tackle a lot of optional content between you and your next objectives, or you can mainline the game at the risk of missing out on some useful character upgrades, such as health-improving items, accessories, and more. Because of this, it’s hard to say exactly how long it’ll take each person to beat the game.
That being said, an average playthrough of The Adventures of Elliot should take somewhere between 15-25 hours, which would include pushing through the main story with some investment in optional content, such as stopping at obvious upgrade opportunities like Shrines of Life, casually exploring some of the game’s caves off the beaten path, and completing at least some of the many side-quests.
Full completion, meanwhile, would require you to thoroughly inspect every inch of the game world for treasure chests, upgrades, and even some special cats, jumping back and forth between different ages to discover new routes and locations only accessible in certain time periods. Because of this, there can be a lot of trial and error and backtracking, which can be rewarding or tedious depending on how much you enjoy figuring it all out.
So, if you’re aiming to do everything in The Adventures of Elliot, you’re likely to net quite a bit more playtime. Doing all of this, though, will ensure that you’re considerably more powerful by the end of the game, so it’s worth it for anyone who wants to feel as capable as possible during Elliot’s, well, adventures.
The Adventures of Elliot is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
