Endgame map Cryo Archive is now in Marathon, thanks to a recent patch. However, runners might have noticed that it is currently inaccessible to everyone on Earth. Still, the map is very close to becoming available.
And while some players are doing the impossible to crack the ARG puzzles, there is a way every runner and their Shells can contribute to the ultimate goal and prepare themselves to visit the endgame map. Here is how to unlock the Cryo Archive in Marathon.
ARG puzzles and UESC kill count requirements
First of all, the Cryo Archive unlock is dependent on players successfully cracking the multiple different ARG (alternate reality game) puzzle stages. These are head-scratchers, to say the least, with many runners in the community solving them with tears running down their cheeks. According to Geeky Pastimes, seven out of 8 puzzles have been solved.
Given that most players won’t be willing to put in the work on solving overly complicated puzzles, you could probably focus your attention on a more straightforward endeavor. Following a cryptic message, the community has determined that they need to destroy 500 million UESC robots.
An online tracker shows that, at the time of writing, more than 313 million UESC units have been killed.
Player requirements to unlock Cryo Archive in Marathon
Once all the above requirements are fulfilled, you will also need to reach specific milestones in your progress. As per the Marathon Dev Team, you will need the following to unlock Cryo Archive:
· Reach Runner Level 25.
· All six factions unlocked: this means you need to complete all the “Introducing” faction quests unlocked at CyAc.
· Your loadout (that is, your gear) must be valued at a minimum of 5,000 Credits per run.
As you can see, running Cryo Archive will not be an easy task. Since it is an endgame map and, therefore, a difficult one, players will most likely find their gear lost in Cryo Archive. As a result, should you not have valuable gear in your Vault, you will find yourself running other maps to scavenge valuable gear, weapons, and Credits to afford another Cryo Archive run.
