What’s In The Box
The box design is simplistic, with a thin sleeve covering the main compartment that houses the headset, but the plastic and cardboard packaging ensures that the CloudX Flight will arrive in mint condition.
What’s in the box, though? The gaming headset, detachable microphone, USB charge cable, wireless adapter, and quick start guide are safely tucked away in the depths of the box, and you can glimpse the beautiful hardware that awaits through the clear plastic cover that secures it all.
Aesthetics And Build Quality
When you first look at the CloudX Flight headset, you notice the soft-touch plastic, the adjustable steel sliders in the headband, the HyperX signature memory foam on the supple earcups, and the control buttons that control so much while remaining sleek and unobtrusive.
The CloudX Flight has a closed cup design, control features built-in, LED effects, a detachable mic with options for muting and mic monitoring, as well as power and volume controls. The LED lights are both aesthetic and functional—the light around the mic indicates whether it’s muted or not, while the LED lights on the outside of each earcup can be toggled through different settings while playing. The earcup lights will also “breathe” while charging.

Regarding the build quality of the wireless headset, the CloudX Flight is an extremely comfortable headset. I’ve felt no discomfort or tightness after hours of use. The earcups are wonderfully soft; they cradle the ears and effectively block outside noise while enhancing the in-game audio. The headphones can be worn for hours without any problems, and the wireless design means that gamers are free to move around as needed without feeling anchored to their chair or their controller.
Even the peripherals parallel the sleek design of the CloudX Flight wireless headset. The wireless adapter is small with a black plastic exterior and a pulsing green light. It can easily be inserted into one of the back USB outlets on the Xbox. And the small USB charge cable can be stowed out of sight until you need to recharge the headset.
The only design element that I disliked was the three seconds required to turn on the headset. There were many times when I would release the power button under the assumption that I’d held it long enough. It seems unnecessary to have a control feature with that long of a delay. I would have preferred two seconds. It’s a small aspect of the design, but it proved irritating over time.

Audio quality was exceptional during my use of the CloudX Flight wireless headset. HyperX has really put a lot of work into the officially-licensed product, and you can’t go wrong if you’re an Xbox gamer.
Watching music, movies, or television and playing games all demonstrated excellent audio quality. Playing a tactical game like Rainbow Six Siege, I was able to discern enemy movements clearly and with pinpoint precision. While listening to Spotify and watching a movie provided balanced high-fidelity sound. The bass was strong but not overwhelming, and the crisp audio constantly delivered.
What It Could Have Done Better
Besides the delayed button for toggling power on and off, there was one other area of concern that thwarted an otherwise perfect listening experience. I experienced continual static with the microphone that reduced the quality of outgoing audio, and it interfered with passive listening as well whenever the microphone was live and mic monitoring was turned on. If mic monitoring is turned off, then the static wasn’t discernable to my ears, but friends and fellow gamers commented on the lower quality of sound. My voice was clear in chat, but the static was an incessant low buzz that I couldn’t remove.
It may not matter to some, but the issues with the microphone were troubling, and it seems to be a persistent issue with HyperX microphones.
Verdict
The HyperX CloudX Flight headset is an awesome wireless headset, and gamers will be happy to experience premium audio and luxurious comfort.
At $159.99, it’s a pricey option for many, but the durable design and commitment to quality means that the CloudX Flight is a strong addition to the HyperX family.
