Last Thursday marked an important moment for Call of Duty fans. Those who participated in the Battle of Verdansk event were treated to the world reveal of Sledgehammer Games’ next title in the franchise, Call of Duty: Vanguard. This new installment is aiming to be a pretty important step for the path that the series is going down in multiple ways. Let’s dive into it!
The single-player campaign will be an interweaving story about four multinational heroes that formed Task Force One, setting the stage for Special Forces. You’ll get to battle in the Eastern and Western Fronts of Europe, the Pacific, and North Africa.
The heroes we’ll get to play as are:
Private Lucas Riggs, 20th Battalion, Australian 9th Infantry Division, British Eighth Army.
Sergeant Arthur Kingsley of the 9th Parachute Battalion, British Army.
Lieutenant Wade Jackson, Scouting Squadron Six, United States Navy.
Lieutenant Polina Petrova of the 138th Rifle Division, Red Army.
On day one, multiplayer will launch with 20 maps for players to engage in. This is pretty big as I can’t recall a game in the series that launched with anywhere near as many as this one will. The game will also include an advanced Gunsmith and Caliber system that’ll bring immersion to the next level. The 2v2 Gunfight mode introduced in Modern Warfare returns, this time as Champion Hill.
Look for more details in the worldwide Multiplayer reveal coming soon, including information on the forthcoming Open Beta. PlayStation players will get a first glimpse at the game as there’s an alpha for Champion Hill running August 27 - 29.
The all-new Zombies game mode for Vanguard will continue the story brought forth by Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, serving as a precursor and is led by Treyarch Studios. More news on Zombies will be released closer to Halloween, possibly during an in-game seasonal event.
New updates are coming to Warzone to coincide with Vanguard as well, being helmed by Raven Software. There’s a new map, one larger than Verdansk, which we’ve come to know, as well as a new anti-cheat system. Progression for your account will continue to be a universal thing between Warzone, MW, BOCW, and Vanguard going forward too. This also includes your Battle Pass progression and purchased Store Bundles.
As the release date for Vanguard approaches, I’m sure there’ll be much more to report. If you’d like to learn about each of the different versions you can purchase or to check out the pre-order bonuses, click right here to learn more!
