If You Missed Fan Fest Nights Check Out The Latest Universal Studios Hollywood Event: Mega Movie Summer

If you didn’t make it to Fan Fest Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, you definitely missed a good time. But don’t worry—Universal isn't slowing down anytime soon. In fact, they’re turning up the heat! With a brand-new theme park on the horizon, a year-round horror venue coming to Vegas, and a lineup of first-time-ever events, Universal has been swinging for the fences all year—and hitting home runs.

Fan Fest Nights was an unexpected blast, Epic Universe looks like it might be the greatest theme park ever built, and I can’t wait for Universal Horror Unleashed to open in Las Vegas. But if you’re still craving that movie magic, Universal has you covered with their latest event: Mega Movie Summer.

Running June 13th through August 10th, Universal Studios Hollywood will transform into a celebration of the studio’s most beloved films. Expect to see spotlight moments for Jurassic Park, Jaws, Back to the Future, and even Wicked.

Jurassic World Gets Wilder

With Jurassic World: Rebirth stomping into theaters July 2nd, it’s only fitting that the park gives some extra love to the original dino adventure. The Jurassic Café will offer new prehistoric treats, Isla Nubar will serve up themed cocktails, and the Jurassic World ride is getting some exciting updates—like a massive Mosasaurus splash finale, new dinosaurs hiding in the shadows, and extra water geysers to help you cool off.

And of course, what’s a summer event without the perfect photo-op? Snap a shot with a brand-new Spinosaurus, or meet fan favorites like Blue the Velociraptor, Juliet the Triceratops, and the adorable Baby Tango.

Celebrating 50 Years of Jaws

If your heart lies with ocean predators, you’ll be thrilled to know that Jaws is also getting its moment. To mark the film’s 50th anniversary, Universal is bringing back the iconic hanging shark photo-op—a nostalgic favorite for SoCal locals like myself. You’ll also spot more nods to Bruce the shark during the tram tour, including a new scene at the Hollywood sign.

The Hollywood & Dine area near the entrance will be transformed into Amity Island Café, serving themed eats like a Lobster Roll, Vegan Crab Cake Sandwich, Fish & Chips, the Shark Bait Burger, Shark Fin Funnel Cake, Amity Island Parfait, Amity Beach Lifesaver Donut, and the appropriately named Shark Bite cocktail.

Back to the Future Turns 40

Missed the Fan Fest Nights Back to the Future celebration? Don’t sweat it—Mega Movie Summer is giving you another chance. To honor the film’s 40th anniversary, the legendary DeLorean time machine will be on display near Mel’s Diner on the upper lot. You’ll even be able to grab a photo with Doc, Marty, and Einstein!

Fan Fest food favorites will also return at Mel’s Diner—so if you missed out the first time, now’s your chance.

Even More to Explore

Still hungry for more? Universal is also teasing the upcoming Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift attraction with a staged ride vehicle modeled after Dom’s Dodge Charger.

You’ll also find meet-and-greets with Elphaba and Glinda from Wicked, perfect for fans and families alike. Plus, keep an eye out for a lifelike Toothless sculpture from How to Train Your Dragon—an unforgettable photo-op for all ages.

Don’t Forget CityWalk

With big summer blockbusters hitting theaters, don’t miss the chance to extend your Universal day by visiting CityWalk. Catch a film at AMC, grab a bite, and enjoy the extra movie-themed magic Universal has planned.
