There are weird games and then there are games that are weird. I’m not sure in which category Tcheco in the castle of Lucio falls, but, boy howdy, does it look strange.
This is a retro hallucination. A throwback psychedlic trip. A bewildering platformer.
The upcoming game originates from a collaboration bewteen indie publisher Fantastico Studio and Brazilian artist Marcelo Barbosa. It’s an 8-bit, 2D platformer, but that general description doesn’t really do the game justice.
From the opening line “Violence is my art” to the surreal gameplay, this looks like an acid trip gone wrong… or maybe horribly right. The development team promises a challenging experience that will push players to think fast and play faster, but I’m more curious about just what the hell is going on.
Maybe it’s the best marketing strategy ever because I’m genuinely curious about the game and retro 2D platformers aren’t even in my wheelhouse.
The game originally released for PC via Steam in 2015, but it launches on Xbox One today, and it’s arriving for the Nintendo Switch and PS4 later.
