Video game trailers come out all the time now, so it’s exciting when someone decides to do something a little different. Whether it’s an immersive cinematic trailer or some interesting exploration of the game from an angle rarely seen, these innovative trailers are the ones that get people’s attention.
Which is why I like the latest Desperados III trailer so much. THQ Nordic has released a miniature trailer that painstakingly recreates the world of the game, with tiny people and miniaturized settings.
The trailer itself is interesting. Picturesque Western scenes full of gunfights and outlaw life. But what I love even more is the behind-the-scenes video that shows all of the work that went into the idea. The slow, iterative process in building the landscapes. The glueing, the painting, and the choreographing. All of it is cool to watch.
So enjoy the trailer. But also check out what they did to make it happen.
This is a film by Clemens Wirth.
And if you don’t know much about Desperados III, it’s a challenging tactical stealth game set in the Wild West.
Think Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, but with cowboys and revolvers. The game is a prequel to Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive, and players will be able to experience the origin story of John Cooper and his gang.
It’s sure to be a lot of fun if it’s half as engaging as the miniature trailer.
Desperados III releases on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on June 16th.
