Indie Horror Game MIRROR FORGE Will Take You Between Realities

Backed with inspiration from the Silent Hill and Stranger Things franchises, indie developer MystiveDev is preparing to release their psychological horror game Mirror Forge later this year. As a title being created by a full-time solo developer, it can be hard to tell what we have in store with this title, but lucky for you horror fans, there is a free demo available right now on their Steam page.

Play as Thomas Jackson, a troubled ordinary man who got drunk two years ago and crashed his car in a tree, putting his girlfriend Jill in a coma and losing their baby. A few months after that, the Covid pandemic starts and he loses his job. Depressed, he tries to commit suicide. But then, something came from the Outside, an omnipresent force that feeds on people's darkest fears, twisting reality to face them with their inner demons.

When it comes to titles inspired by the classics, it can be a curious statement as to how much the original title inspired the developers. In this case, MystiveDev even stated, "The level & environment design, the characters, whether good or evil, are all symbolically designed to reflect the main protagonist's inner turmoil," which is about as Silent Hill-esque as you could ask for.

Mirror Forge is set to release on September 29th for PC via Steam. It definitely seems to have a solid premise, so I look forward to trying out the demo myself. What do you think of this intriguing title?
