The first Intellivision collection, featuring twelve games has been officially announced for the Evercade. The included games are:
Astrosmash
Buzz Bombers
Frog Bog
Night Stalker
Pinball
Princess Quest
Shark Shark
Slap Shot: Super Pro Hockey
Snafu
Thin Ice
Thunder Castle
Word Rockets.
These games will make up the initial set, with more set for release in 2022. According to Evercade, “One of the key things with trying to bring an older, classic system to a device such as the Evercade is making sure that the experience of playing the games is good and fun.” I have played many of these games. I still have many of these games for the original console. On top of this collection, Astrosmash, Night Stalker, and Shark Shark are set for a re-imagining on the Amico.
The emulation is generally good on the Evercade, but I have said repeatedly that the games they choose to put on their console are largely available on other consoles. This collection contains games that are on other Intellivision compilations, such as Intellivision Lives for PS2, GameCube, and Xbox. The emulation is good there too. Princess Quest and Word Rockets seem to be the outliers on that compilation. That being said, if you already own one of the other compilations, is this one worth buying? It would be a portable version of Intellivision games, so I’ll leave that up to you.
