The latest game from Capcom, Pragmata, has proven itself to be a powerful new franchise for the acclaimed developer. Utilizing a mix of shooting and hacking, you take on killer androids on a lunar base. It’s a testament to the developer’s legacy and one that fans are already loving.
However, one of the prevailing theories regarding Pragmata is that it’s not a new IP, but a reimagining of one of Capcom’s classic franchises: Mega Man. While there was some convenient evidence, nothing could be confirmed. So, is Pragmata secretly a Mega Man game? Well, we happen to have the answer here!
Pragmata & Mega Man Connection
To start things off, we do need to go back to why fans think Pragmata and Mega Man are connected. Of course, there is the obvious space setting and usage of robots as friends and foes, much like Mega Man and company. Another instance was Diana’s jacket, which sports the same blue hue as our Blue Bomber.
However, with the long wait between its reveal and release, fans speculated quite a bit about the two. For some, the corruption of robots is similar to Sigma’s virus, which made him the antagonist many know and love (or hate). Meanwhile, many pointed out more about Diana and how her blue oversized jacket made it look like, when hacking in combat, Mega Man’s signature Megabuster. Capcom did publicly denounce the connection a few times, though it didn’t stop many from speculating.
Is Pragmata a Mega Man Game?
Unfortunately, Pragmata is not a Mega Man game. There are no direct connections to anything in the iconic Capcom series within the story or world. However, for those who do want to see what it would look like, Capcom showed Hugh in a Mega Man costume for April Fools. The costume isn’t in the game, sadly, but perhaps it may appear in the future via DLC or free update.
Pragmata is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
