Jason Roland Confirms Xbox ROG Ally and Ally X Intended Output And Audiences

Jason Roland, who currently is the Vice President of Xbox Gaming Devices & Ecosystem at Microsoft has just confirmed that the upcoming Xbox ROG Ally and ROG Ally X are intended for 2 completely different audience where price and performance are a major consideration for Microsoft.

In an interview held earlier today, Jason talks in detail about the intended audiences for both handheld consoles and the future they bring to the Xbox Brand.

While we currently only know the European prices for the handheld devices, we might learn the price at Gamescom later this week. However, if you are curious about the main differences between the two device, it boils down to two fundemental camps.

The ROG Ally is intended for 720p gaming, and the ROG Ally X is intended for 1080p gaming. This is a well-familiar situation that Microsoft has done with their current console generation, to where the Xbox Series S has become a meme synonymous with ruining gaming.

Handheld gaming has picked up immense popularity over the years as is evident with the Nintendo Switch/ Switch 2, Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion GO, and even a device like the PlayStation Portal is selling well.

We will have to wait and see how the ROG Ally and Ally X do in the market when they do release.
