While it is easy to say that finding out the Silent Hill 2 Remake by Bloober Team isn’t a rumor, as it usually would turn out to be, is the best announcement on the list, it is interesting to see Konami bringing back the Silent Hill franchise as a whole. Not only are they having one of their classic titles remade, but they have a few games, a new movie, and even a book series in the works from various teams.
Focusing first on the games, we have Silent Hill: Townfall which is being developed in co-production by Annapurna Interactive and No Code Studio. We don’t have a lot of information on this title just yet, but there is a cool trailer to check out.
Then we have Silent Hill F, a title taking the series into 1960s Japan featuring an all-new story in a beautiful, yet horrifying world. While there may be some issues off the press given Silent Hill is supposed to be the town it takes place in, I’m willing to see how they give this new game a connection to the original location. The story is being written by Ryūkishi07, famed for Japanese visual novels dealing with murder mysteries, psychological, and supernatural horror. The game itself is being developed by NeoBards Entertainment.
Changing the pace, we have Silent Hill: Ascension which will be a Live interactive experience for players to follow along with. This experience is being put together by the collaborative efforts of BeHaviour, DJ2 Entertainment, GENVID, and Bad Robot Entertainment. It won’t be live until sometime in 2023 and all we know of what to expect is from the trailer they released for it. You can subscribe to the game’s official website if you’d like updates on the development of this experience.
Moving on to the cinematic media, they have also announced that a new movie is in the works! To announce this, they had the director and producer of the film adaptation project, Christophe Gans - who directed the first Silent Hill movie in 2006, send out a message for the trailer. Welcome back to the Return To Silent Hill!
Last up we have a new book series from Celenic Earth Publications founder, Author Shaun M Jooste, called The Boatman Saga. This 7-part book series isn’t his first touch in the Silent Hill universe as he also delivered a great standalone book titled Silent Hill Betrayal in 2016. While there is no trailer for this announcement, you can read up on the details on the author’s blog page or simply check out his Twitter post announcement below.
