Back in 2020, IOGEAR and Kaliber Gaming came out with a new keyboard for players to try out. While the two were nearly identical, they did have their differences. The trickier thing, at least when it comes to GameTyrant’s reviewing, is that both reviewers of the HVER PRO and the HVER PRO X gave the keyboard an 8 out of 10 score. Granted, that shows that this general keyboard line is a solid choice, how are players supposed to know when one to pick?
Now that I have had a chance to use the HVER PRO X after using the HVER PRO since I reviewed it a couple of years ago, let’s compare the two:
Specifics that only the HVER PRO offers, although it is no longer available on the IOGEAR website:
Red or Brown switches
Brushed aluminum chassis adds rigidity and durability

Now a quick look at what both keyboards offer:
Heavy-weight base for stability while gaming
Preset RGB backlighting with multiple patterns
Customizable RGB backlighting with the use of the Kaliber Gaming Software
Double injected keycaps so they will never wear off
In the end, these two keyboards are very similar, but from a personal touch experience, I would highly recommend the HVER PRO X over the standard HVER PRO. Having quieter keys, guaranteed brown switches, standard aluminum chassis rather than the brushed ones, and the general response of the keyboard is all just a higher quality of an experience. Not to mention that it is water-resistant!
I’ve been using the HVER PRO for years and while it has worked just fine, it feels like I have been tolerating the aspects of the keyboard now that I have used the HVER PRO X for the past couple of weeks. I can see why they only offer the HVER PRO X on their website these days. Definitely worth it!
