Wayfarer Studios and Bandai Namco have officially announced plans to jointly develop and produce a live-action film based on their beloved video game icon PAC-MAN. As a cultural icon for over 40 years, PAC-MAN has been lauded as one of the most influential and longest-running video game franchises in history. This remains true considering their popular well-liked release of PAC-MAN Museum+ and the upcoming release of PAC-MAN World Re-PAC.
The feature film will be based on an original story idea by Lightbeam Entertainment’s Chuck Williams, who is known for his work in both Sonic the Hedgehog and Brother Bear. This announcement follows Wayfarer Studios’ recent announcement of a $125 million investment to boost further strategic growth. The main heads working on the PAC-MAN live-action movie include Justin Baldoni, Manu Gargi, Andrew Calof, and Tracy Ryerson will develop on behalf of Wayfarer Studios, while Chuck Williams and Tim Kwok will produce on behalf of Lightbeam.
Unfortunately, this announcement doesn’t come with any details regarding a potential release window or any images of what to expect. The prospect of a live-action movie for beloved characters is always a concerning form of excitement as we can’t wait to see it, but at the same time, we are worried about how it will turn out. Even so, you can bet that news for this movie will be followed and shared here on GameTyrant as it is announced!
