Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is absolutely killing it on the Nintendo Switch. The game, which overshadowed highest selling Mario Kart Wii's week one sales on its first day, ended up surpassing 1 million copies in the first week of sales. If you're subscribing to the believe that Nintendo has a little over 2.5 million consoles out in the world right now...that's just a little under half the owners of a Switch who purchased the game.
That's great news for the game, who some believed would suffer as it's essentially a remake and even better news for Nintendo. Obviously having almost half your userbase purchase your software is gonna knock those profit margins way up and will certainly make up for the premium price paid for shipping Switch units.
I'm not surprised by the sales, as I praised most of the games new mechanics in our review, although there were some areas for improvement. Anyone here surprised Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a hit or that it sold so well?
