Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope was released to widespread critical and fan acclaim, including right here at GameTyrant. The sequel elevated everything about the first title, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, while also bringing some unique and original ideas to the genre. Now Ubisoft has outlined what’s next for Sparks of Hope as they prepare to roll out all the content for the game’s Season Pass.
The first DLC pack (which is exclusive to the Season Pass) will drop sometime in Early 2023 and feature a new combat mode known as The Tower of Doooom. The extra “o’s” really give it a sense of dread, and apparently, that’s intentional! It looks like this new mode will be some form of horde mode, as the image shows Mario, Edge, and Rabbid Peach facing down an army of enemies in a dilapidated carnival. The Megabug Rabbid from Kingdom Battle can also be seen in the teaser image alongside the Fortune Teller Rabbid who offers challenge battles in the Sparks of Hope base game.
The second DLC pack arrives closer to the middle of 2023 and will bring Mario and the crew to a new planet to face a mysterious foe. The teaser image shows a sinister-looking Rabbid with sharp teeth and a Bob-omb standing in an idyllic forest setting. Little else is revealed about this content, but it does appear to be an extension of the main game. The villainous figure in the image also bears some resemblance to Cursa’s Spark Hunters, who featured as boss battles during the base story campaign.
The final DLC pack will arrive in late 2023 and introduce a new, standalone adventure featuring Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Peach, and Ubisoft icon Rayman. This content pack was originally teased at the Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope section of Ubisoft Forward 2022 earlier this year. The Rayman expansion seems to be close in structure to the Donkey Kong expansion Ubisoft released for Kingdom Battle back in 2018.
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
