METAL GEAR SURVIVE Needs An Online Connection To Play

As if Metal Gear Survive didn't have enough of a hill to climb at launch, news has just dropped that it will require an internet connection to play. That includes for the single-player campaign, and while most people have an internet connection in their homes these days, one has to wonder Konami is using such an unpopular feature in their game?

This news comes on the heels of the announcement that the game won't release until 2018, so things are already looking bad for the follow up to MGSV. To be fair, they looked pretty grim from the start considering this will be the companies first attempt at keeping the series alive in the wake of Hideo Kojima's absence.

While all this news seems bad, perhaps the worst news is that Konami is likely going to tank this franchise by the time this is all said and done, and another great gaming franchise will come to an end. Of course, Kojima can create a spiritual successor of sorts with Death Stranding, but it won't be the same.

Is there anyone out there that hopes that despite what all we've learned that Metal Gear Survive is good?
