A Key Microsoft Executive Just Gave An Update On The Future Of FABLE

The future of the Fable franchise has been up in the air ever since Microsoft closed down Lionhead Studios last March. In the time since we've been given a card game Fable Fortune, but obviously, that's not enough to keep fans of the series from wanting a mainline game.

When Lionhead closed the chances of Fable 4 seemed rather slim, but now head of Xbox first-party publishing Shannon Loftis is saying she'd like to see the series return:

"Fable is very near and dear to my heart. Actually one of the primary reasons [I moved to England] was to work with the team on Fable II. Fable Fortune is now out, the card game. We love the IP. I can't talk right now about whether we're doing anything with it or not, but if I ever get the chance to go back to Albion ... "

That's good news for Fable fans. If the series is going to make a return, Shannon Loftis is going to be one of the people who need to be on board for it to happen. From her statement, it even sounds like Microsoft might currently be working on something! That's speculative, of course, but if there was nothing in development one would expect the typical "we have no plans," kind of statement that usually goes along with these quotes.

My guess? I think by next E3 we'll hear something from Microsoft about Fable, if not see a trailer for an in-development game. Is that something you'd like to see, or have you moved on from the Fable franchise?
