In a recent interview, Hidetaka Miyazaki has confirmed that the world of Elden Ring while not over, will not get the sequel treatment. They share that there are more plans for the IP with the publishers help, but a direct sequel to the critical and commercially successful title is not one of the projects. The full quote from the interview is:
“At this point, we are not considering developments such as "Elden Ring 2". However, this does not mean that we are denying the development of the IP "Elden Ring". As for "what will we do then?", FromSoftware is running multiple projects as usual. Among them, there are various variations of projects, so I hope you will look forward to them.”
This could come as a disappointment to some fans, but the Elden Ring IP is still alive which is what really matters, and FromSoftware has yet to let us down.
With The Game Awards on the horizon, fans are wondering if we will hear about any new projects from the studio.
