Multiplayer Modes Announced For Choice-Based Story Game MAN OF MEDAN

The next big title from Supermassive Games isn’t going to be strictly solo movie-styled adventure according to their latest announcement. In their multiplayer announcement trailer for The Dark Pictures Anthology - Man of Medan, they mentioned a couple new ways we can play this horror adventure with some friends. I’ll let the trailer speak for itself:

This is very unexpected but incredibly welcomed as well! Finding a way to let more people in on a choice based adventure like this is sure to make the game more fun and add replayability to it. As a recap for the two multiplayer modes:

Shared Story Mode

  • Share the story simultaneously with a friend in two-player online co-op

  • Both players explore the world, make choices and perform actions that affect the outcome of the story and the fate of their respective characters

  • Traverse scenes through a different perspective from the single-player experience—sometimes together, sometimes apart—in totally separate scenes revealing new information, locations and scares

Movie Night Mode

  • Play locally in a group of up to five players with one controller, with each player taking charge of the movement, decisions and choices of one of the five main characters

  • Players can choose between saving themselves, or trying to keep their friends’ characters alive

  • At the end of each playthrough, actions and impacts will be judged – with achievements & rewards for each player

I was already excited to play through Man of Medan the same way I played through their previous title, Until Dawn. Knowing that I can bring my friends in on the fun and end up having some curve balls thrown at me during the journey only builds the hype! How do you feel about a choice-based game becoming a multiplayer party game?
