The lines between gaming and anime are a little blurred. The communities are both so similar and even more so lately now that they’ve been meshing more and more. Netflix has an insane amount of content already, but they can’t keep stagnant so in 2024 they’re adding a bunch more anime series to the mix. Here are 11 animes coming to Netflix in 2024.
1. One Piece (Season 20) - January 1st
A very popular show with a ton of content, including a new live action version. Netfilx will be adding the 20th season to their library.
2. Delicious In Dungeon (Season 1) - January 4th
From the same studio that brought you Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, they are delivering us a brand new animated series about a skilled adventure party, including a knight named Laios and his little sister Larin, that goes to claim some lost treasure and when they’re bested they’re left penniless and without equipment. With what little they have they must attempt to defeat the Flame Dragon who ate the knights little sister. It sounds kind of like a roguelike.
3. Maboroshi - January 15th
Did you like the final season of Attack on Titan? Coming from the same studio is Maboroshi an animated movie about the romance a third-year middle school student named Masamune experiences. In a town that stands still because of a steelworks factory explosion, Masamune’s excitable classmate Atsumi decides to take him to one of the blast furnaces where they find a girl who has gone feral and their meeting may have destroyed the balance of the world.
4. The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocolypse (Season 1) - January 31st
A sequel series to the original series The Seven Deadly Sins. Taking place a year after the events in the original series, Four Knights of the Apocolypse shifts focus to Percival, a young boy who learns the prophecy of the Four Knights. Learning that he is destined to be one of the four deadly knights that destroy the world, he sets out to find the other three knights.
5. T.P. Bon (Season 1) - May 2nd
T.P. Bon is an animated adaptation of Fujiko Fujio’s original manga. It follows the story of a typical high school student, Bon. Bon is turned not-so-typical when he is recruited to be a time traveling agent. It became his job to save people’s lives during historical events around the globe.
6. Blood of Zues (Season 2) - May 15th
The second season of Blood of Zues is finally here after almost three and a half years. In this new season, Heron reflects on the war for Olympus and his battle with Seraphim. Showing humanity and remorse he unlocks his inner demigod.
7. Ultraman Rising - June 14th
Technically separate from the series that you already know, Ultraman Rising will fit right in. Ken Sato is the latest to fill the Ultraman mantle. He returns to Japan to carry on the heroes name, however he finds himself tempted into raising an infant Kaiju, the offspring of his greatest enemy.
8. Rising Impact (Part 1 & 2) - June, August
An anime adaptation for Nakaba Suzuki’s work. For being the creator of Seven Deadly Sins, this is a bit of a directional change. A sports anime where third grader Gawain Nanaumi reaches his final inning with his love for baseball and tees up a new love for golfing when he meets Kiria Nishino, a professional golfer. She helps him enroll in Camelot Academy, a school for upcoming professional golfers.
9. Gundam: Requium For Vengance (Season 1) - October
With only a teaser revealed for the series, there isn’t much information to go off of. What there is to know is that it’s Gundam, and Gundam are awesome. The series takes place during the One-Year War and has a beautiful animation style. More details on the show are sure to be announced throughout the year.
10. Moonrise (Season 1) - TBA
A sci-fi story behind the creator of Full Metal Alchamist, Hiromu Arakawa. A futuristic world where everything has been entrusted to an AI Network, Sapientia. Everything seems normal stable but as Sapientia’s “Moon Reclaimation Project” starts to boil over, Earth begins to feel its tremors. Maintaining peace on Earth by sending pollution and criminals to the moon, leaving the moon in a constant state of fire and a War for Independence.
11. Beastars (Season 4) - TBA
Coming sometime this year, Beastars fourth and final season is finally releasing. Surely bitter-sweet for most, since it’s been a long time coming but surely feels too soon. Not much has been revealed for this season other than the premier being in 2024.
