Netflix Offers To Produce STRANGER THINGS Game After The Collapse Of Telltale Games

After the shocking announcement of Telltale Games’ closure last Friday, players were left wondering on what would happen to the studio’s current and upcoming titles. Telltale’s most popular franchise, The Walking Dead, is currently in its final season that will conclude the story of Clementine. Unfortunately, the studio is yet to confirm whether subsequent episodes will still be released, or if players will be left hanging.

As for upcoming games, Telltale still has titles in their queue such as the adaptation of Netflix’s Stranger Things. In a statement released to Polygon, Netflix revealed that they are still willing to produce the upcoming game adaptation of Stranger Things, and are currently looking at other options to make this happen.

“We are saddened by the news about Telltale Games,” Netflix said in a statement. “They developed many great games in the past and left an indelible mark on the industry. Minecraft: Story Mode is still moving forward as planned. We are in the process of evaluating other options for bringing the Stranger Things universe to life in an interactive medium.”

The collaboration between Netflix and Telltale was announced last June where a five-episode interactive narrative series is planned for Minecraft: Story Mode. The Stranger Things game, on the other hand, was intended to take the form of similar games in Telltale’s roster and would be styled similarly to The Walking Dead.
