Nintendo has released a new trailer for Fire Emblem Engage, this time showing off all the activities you can do when resting between battles. The new hub space, known as the Somniel, plays host to many services longtime Fire Emblem fans will be familiar with.
The Somniel is the home base for the Divine Dragon (that’s you), so you’ll do all your battle prep in this floating castle. There are shops for everything from new weapons to accessories that influence your stats in combat. You can also visit the Ring Chamber to strengthen your bonds with acquired Emblem characters, inherit skills from them, and even create and combine bond rings for further stat boosts.
There’s an Arena for engaging in practice battles, as well as the Tower of Trials that offers more challenging content for special rewards. You can even create your own battle maps to share with other players. And you’ll also have the chance to bond with your party members by giving them gifts, cooking food for them, and just speaking with them around the Somniel.
There’s also a farmyard where you can bring rescued animals, a workout minigame that provides temporary stat boosts, fishing, and accessorizing. A strange creature called Sommie also calls the Somniel home, and taking care of him can provide useful rewards.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses’ central hub, Garreg Mach Monastery, was well-received by fans, especially in regard to the social interactions it allowed. The Somniel looks to be an evolution of this design, with more visual diversity and a wider array of features.
Fire Emblem Engage launches on January 20th, 2023 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. For more, check out all the details for Fire Emblem Engage’s expansion pass.
