Horror games are difficult to pull off, but game developer Illphonic and Gun Media have plans to make a horror game where you take control of the killer and others take control of the campers. The kicker, it's going to be based on Paramount Pictures Friday the 13th!
It's a semi-open world slasher where you either survive or kill. As the camp counselors, you work together to find a way to defeat Jason. As Jason, you find ways to break up the camp counselors and kill them off. You ruin their plans and find creative ways to murder them. They just started a Kickstarter to fund the game, which can be found here.
Not only does this game sound great, but already they have the attention and support of the original filmmakers of the Friday the 13th movie. Tom Savini, Sean Cunningham, Henri Manfredini and Kane Hodder are all involved in making sure this game has that same feel and tension as the movie.
The idea of surviving a horror movie has always been a dream of mine, and I loved the game Until Dawn, which played with this idea. The idea of being the killer or trying to out think the killer is great. It can't be worse than the old Nintendo Friday the 13th game at least. That's for sure.
