Riot Games and the VALORANT team have something cool in store for fans as they announced the latest map addition to the popular tactical shooter recently during the VCT (VALORANT Champions Tour) Champs Finals broadcast. The new map, Sunset is set to launch with Episode 7 Act II, drawing players into a vivid tribute to Riot Games' own hometown, Los Angeles.
Sunset is a mid-control map that encapsulates the essence of LA, showcasing various cultural landmarks that define the city. From the iconic art deco and mission-style architecture to the bustling food truck scene, Sunset will transport players to the heart of LA, complete with its infamous traffic.
However, it's not just the aesthetics that make Sunset special; lighting plays a crucial role in its design. Riot Games has gone to great lengths to capture the mood of an LA sunset without compromising the gameplay experience. This careful balance between aesthetics and functionality hopes to deliver an immersive and visually stunning map for VALORANT players.
Sunset features a 3-lane, 2-site layout, making mid-control a central aspect of the gameplay strategy. As players navigate the streets of this map, they'll need to utilize their tactical prowess to secure victory.
In addition to the map reveal, VALORANT also unveiled some updates for its team-based competitive system, Premier, which officially launches alongside Episode 7 Act II. These updates include the introduction of official divisions, expanded weekly matches covering all seven maps in the competitive pool, and comprehensive tracking of players' career history and results. Looking ahead, Premier will also be integrated with the VCT, with the first set of changes anticipated in early 2024.
Valorant is available for free on PC via the Riot Games Website and the Episode 7 Act II Update is set to kick off on August 29, 2023.
