It was only a few months back when we learned that Capcom was looking to expand further on the Monster Hunter series with a couple of new Nintendo Switch-focused titles. Of these two titles, we got a new trailer for Monster Hunter Rise, which is still set for release on March 26, 2021, during The Game Awards 2020. This trailer shows off some new beasts, the main location ‘Kamura Village,’ and a new event called Rampage.
While details on the new event haven’t been shared yet, other than the fact that players will need to build up their defenses and prepare for the battle of their lifetimes, we did get to see the two new beasts as well as many returning ones. One of the new beasts is known as Bishaten; a trickster with a distinctive tail and fondness for persimmons, which it stores in his stomach and hurls at its prey. The other is the Somnacanth; an intoxicating aquatic leviathan that can expel sleep powder to temporarily stun opponents, leaving them open for attacks.
Fans of the series and newly interested players will get a chance to try out this title prior to its release as they also announced a free demo to become available in January 2021. This demo will provide hunters their first opportunity to try out the inventive set of new tools in the game, including the debut of the Wirebug mechanic and Palamute companion. More details are sure to be released soon, but until then, make sure you check out the awesome new trailer above!
