After exploring the Great Deku Tree and making it to Hyrule Castle Town, you’ll eventually need to sneak your way into Hyrule Castle. There are guards posted up everywhere, and you cannot get spotted. You also need the help of a friend to wake someone up, so here’s how to sneak into Hyrule Castle in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake.
How to get into Hyrule Castle in Ocarina of Time
Once you reach the front gates of Hyrule Castle, speak with Malon, who is sitting by the horse and carriage. She’ll tell you her father is somewhere on the castle grounds, and she'll give you an egg. This egg will eventually hatch as it sits in your inventory.
After you take that, just behind Malon is a vine wall. Jump off the bridge and climb up the vines to breach the front gates. From there, don’t accidentally get caught by the guard up the hill. Instead, keep to the left and hide behind the shrubbery. There are a few guards lurking around here, so stay behind the shrubs until you make it to the next area.
You should now see a moat of water and guards posted up by the next set of gates. Jump into the water to avoid them and make it all the way around the side of the castle until you spot Malon’s father, Talon. By now, your egg should’ve hatched, so equip the chicken and press ZR to wake him up.
Once he’s awake, he’ll run off and allow you to push the boxes off the ledge, giving you a jumping platform into the crawl space. In the next area, another guard is facing the path forward. Avoid his gaze by jumping onto the boxes and carefully walking across the wooden plank above.
From here, there will be a few more rooms filled with guards walking their routes. Keep an eye on when they turn their back on you to know the best time to run. The last room has one guard in the center who checks his front and back, while the other circles the room. Follow behind the guard walking the perimeter and cross the gap when the other guard is looking away.
That’s all there is to sneaking into Hyrule Castle! You can now meet Princess Zelda for the first time. Since you’re just getting started, you may also be interested in finding out how long Ocarina of Time Remake is.
