Octopath Traveler II is just around the corner, and Square Enix has been kind enough to drop a demo for the game for both the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation systems. The demo in question gives players three hours to spend with any of the game’s protagonists, and features save data transfer to the full game when it releases later this month.
The release of this demo echoes the lead-up to the original Octopath Traveler, which received two demos before its launch in 2018. The initial demo was intended to incorporate player feedback and was accompanied by a survey to gauge player interest in certain details. The demo was later updated to reflect some of these changes, and save data transfer to the final game was included.
Octopath Traveler II follows a new band of adventurers on their own individual quests and chronicles how their paths cross throughout these journeys. These intersections are built out more in the sequel, giving two or more characters unique side stories that develop their bond as party members. The HD-2D engine that powers the game has also been significantly upgraded to create more detailed visuals and access more dynamic camera angles.
The Octopath Traveler II demo is available now for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation consoles. Octopath Traveler II launches on February 24th, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
