Xenoblade Chronicles 3 showed up at today’s Nintendo Direct to reveal what’s to come in the last two waves of DLC included in the game’s Expansion Pass. Volume 3 of the Expansion Pass will feature a new hero, Masha, and bring a brand-new character class to the game that the rest of your team can also equip.
Masha is a Lapidarist and her special ability involves crafting unique accessories to enhance her skills and stats in battle. She’ll likely have her own quest chain as well, similar to when Ino was added to the game in Wave 2. Wave 3 will also include a new set of challenge battles with a roguelike structure that feature more alternate costumes as rewards.
The trailer then goes on to offer a brief tease of what’s to come in Volume 4. The last piece of the Expansion Pass will feature a brand-new story set after the events of the main game and will tie Xenoblade Chronicles 3 to the previous two games. The teaser shows Shulk and Rex, the protagonists from the first two games, facing off against Alvis, a central figure from Xenoblade Chronicles. Another, mysterious character with long, dark hair is also briefly shown in mid-attack.
Wave 3 of the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass will drop on February 15th, 2023, and Wave 4 will launch later in 2023. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
