A recent announcement from the PlayStation Blog revealed that Patapon 2 is getting remastered and will be coming to the PS4 early next year. The remastered rhythm-based 2D game will include 4K support on the PS4 Pro and will also give players the ability to evolve their Patapons and improve their fighting skills together with the ability to create their own Patapon hero. The original Patapon game also got a remaster for the PS4 earlier this year. Patapon 2 will also include additional Patapons with new ranks for the player to discover: “Toripon, the flying bird riders; Robopon, mech warriors, and Mahopon, the magicians.” Check out some of the game's images below:
In case you’re not familiar with the game, here is Patapon 2’s official description:
"Shipwrecked in a new and strange land the Patapons will depend on you, the Mighty One, to lead them safely through this perilous new adventure. The beat of your mystical war drums will guide your brave tribe through this new land as they come face to face with a deadly new rival tribe, encounter a mysterious and powerful Patapon Hero and uncover the ruins of Patapolis, an ancient place long spoken of by the Patapons.”
As 2018 approaches, there seems to be a flourish of remasters and re-releases from major game publishers with games like Megaman, Street Fighter and Medievil among many others coming soon. Hopefully, the new iterations of these titles will introduce the classic games to a younger generation who were not able to play and enjoy them as I did when I was growing up. It will definitely be fun and nostalgic to lead my Patapon army down for an adventure once again.
Pata-pata-patapon! Who’s excited to relive Patapon 2?
