It seems that the punishing title Blasphemous has a lot more to offer as developer The Game Kitchen and publisher Team17 make big announcements for the game as a series. The biggest announcement they included is the fact that there is going to be a Blasphemous 2 and that although it is in the early stages of production, the game will be a direct follow-up to the original title. They are aiming to release the second title sometime in 2023.
As for the more exciting news, given players will have access to this a lot sooner than a follow-up title, is another completely free DLC update is coming to Blasphemous called Wounds of Eventide. This brand-new and free content update for the original title concludes The Penitent One’s first journey and unlocks the game’s true ending. It will introduce new bosses, areas, and items, and underlines the stark truth that penitence never ends… it only changes. Wounds of Eventide will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on December 9th.
If you plan to take advantage of this upcoming free DLC, don’t forget to snag the original free DLC they released in 2020 called The Stir of Dawn. You can enjoy a pretty dark and action-packed animated trailer for the latest DLC pack which is well worth checking out before you go add a reminder to snag Wounds of Eventide when it releases.
