With a new trailer at Summer Game Fest 2023, PlayStation 5 players finally got word of when to expect Honkai: Star Rail’s jump from PC and mobile to the PlayStation platform, though it won't be imminent. The Playstation 5 version is set to drop sometime in Q4 of this year, so players probably won't get their hands on the game until this Winter.
Honkai: Star Rail is the latest free-to-play gacha RPG from Hoyoverse, the creators of the extremely successful Genshin Impact. While Genshin is an action-based RPG affair, Honkai: Star Rail is a turn-based RPG along the lines of the classic Final Fantasy titles, with modern visuals and a few overhauls.
The game follows the adventures of the crew of the Astral Express, a starship that heavily resembles a train. It begins on a space station under attack, as a mysterious woman creates an artificial human, named the Trailblazer, and embeds a dangerous artifact into their body, before disappearing. Armed only with an uncontrolled power and a vague prophecy, the Trailblazer teams up with the crew and sets out across the stars to discover the secret of their existence and the purpose for which they were created.
Honkai: Star Rail is available now for PC, Android, and iOS, with a PlayStation 5 release scheduled for Q4 of 2023.
