Souls-like Metroidvania Blasphemous 2 is now open for pre-order, and to celebrate the occasion, publisher Team17 and developer The Game Kitchen released a new trailer. It comes with half a minute of gameplay footage showing off the upcoming game's brutal combat, and some of the grisly finisher moves that await.
Blasphemous 2 is a follow-up to the grim Metroidvania Blasphemous. The game drew heavily from Catholic artwork and gave it a dark twist to create a world of endless suffering at the whims of a cruel and remorseless God.
Now, a new journey awaits. Even death is not enough to end the call to duty. The silent Penitent One is stirred from their eternal rest and brought to a strange new land, once again charged with taking on the might of the Grievous Miracle.
The player will need to once again take up the barbed sword, or maybe a few more weapons this time, and fight their way through grotesque visions of punishment and martyrdom, in twisting gothic hallways and blasted hillsides.
The new title promises a more flexible experience, with more opportunities for build variety.
Blasphemous 2 releases on August 24th. It's available for pre-order for PC via Steam and GOG, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
