Sega fans, rejoice! After the surprise announcement that Sonic 2 (and Knuckles) and Puyo Puyo 2 would be joining the Sega Ages series of Sega game remasters this month for the Nintendo Switch, they’re now out, about and ready for purchase! Sonic 2 is, of course, one of Sega’s most popular and acclaimed games, although the twist for this version is that the ROM data has Knuckles from Sonic and Knuckles added in as a playable character.
This version of Puyo Puyo 2 marks the first English localization of the game; previously the ROM had only been available in Japanese. If you’re not familiar with the Puyo Puyo series, you might be familiar with the reskinned versions Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine for Mega Drive/Genesis and Kirby’s Avalanche for Super NES.
All ports in the Sega Ages series are handled by M2 who put a whole lot of care into their conversations. I highly recommend these if you’re wanting to look back at Sega’s past.
