Few platformers have aged as gracefully as Rayman, and the 30th Anniversary Edition is a joyful reminder of why this limbless hero became an icon in the first place. The game’s hand-drawn art, whimsical animation, and inventive level design remain utterly charming decades later, still radiating personality in a way many modern platformers struggle to match. There’s a timeless magic here that transcends nostalgia, t simply feels good to play, with tight controls and imaginative worlds that continue to delight both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
This version is a joy to play whether on PC or console without any bugs or flaws we could find on the PC version that we put to the test. The different filters and options for the games are extremely well done, especially the CRT-like filter.
What makes this anniversary package intriguing is the wealth of historical extras, especially the documentary, which is genuinely fascinating and nearly worth the price alone for fans of gaming history. That said, the collection’s core offering is essentially multiple versions of very similar Rayman experiences with only modest tweaks and improvements. For die-hard fans and preservation enthusiasts, it’s a treasure trove. For everyone else, the decision comes down to how much you value revisiting (or owning) near-identical slices of a beloved classic.
LOVE Rayman, you’ll love this. This one is a bit hard to score but if you’ve been looking to play the definite editions of a classic, this is it. If you are looking for a remaster or remake, that isn’t the focus or strength here as it’s still mainly just the old pixel magic still charming after 30 years.
