During CAPCOM’s Resident Evil Showcase today, we were granted an in-depth look at the series' latest remake coming this Spring. Resident Evil 4 was shown off in all of its glory and it looks very impressive. The survival horror experience that influenced countless games after it, is coming to current-gen consoles and PC on March 24th.
The extended gameplay trailer reveals an expectedly detailed environment, showing off the true capabilities of the latest console iterations. You can check out the gameplay here. Locations are eerily realistic and it seems like the unprecedented lighting system from Resident Evil: Village has returned. We can see that this iteration of the classic title will steer toward a much darker tone.
Slowly stepping away from the cheesy dialogue from the original game, the trailer depicts a much more serious Leon. This is especially noticed during his conversations with Hunnigan, which always had unfitting innuendos in most of their dialogue in the original game.
Players were able to get a glimpse of the new stealth system which allows Leon to enter a crouched mode for stealth attacks. We are also treated to various cuts of footage showing Leon fighting the Granados with various weapons and his famous melee counters.
The game looks incredible and seems to be elevating the original in a multitude of ways. We can’t wait to find out more in the coming months and we’ll be sure to keep our fingers crossed for an RE4 demo, hopefully, sooner than later.
Resident Evil 4 is launching on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on March 24, 2023.
