Retro-Bit’s 2.4 GHz controllers have been a phenomenal addition For the Sega Genesis and Sega Saturn. They offer low latency wireless play in a well built and long lasting package and the ability to swap them between consoles with the included receivers has been fantastic. The only problem up to this point though, you couldn’t get the receivers separately from a controller bundle. Because I personally own 4 total 2.4 GHz controllers (3 Saturn/1 Genesis), grabbing an entire other Genesis controller hasn’t been something I have wanted to do as it would result in an extra controller sitting around doing nothing.
But it looks like Retro-Bit will soon be offering a solution for us, individual receivers for Genesis and Saturn will soon be offered through CastleMania Games! Each receiver will retail for $12.99 and come in a small plain box (compared to their Bluetooth receiver boxes anyways). With this option I can now pick up a second Genesis receiver and use my extra Saturn controller for the system!
No dates have been given specifically for launch other than soon, but knowing Retro-Bit, I imagine it will likely be available within the next few weeks. I am glad to see Retro-Bit making this option available for all of us who could benefit from it despite us likely being a small subset of 2.4 GHz controller owners. Still, it’s great to see a company take care of its customers even after initial purchases!
