NOTE FROM THE EDITOR: We here at GameTyrant have been absolutely bombarded with so many products and games this year already. We will be rolling out select quick reviews to let our audience know about products, games, and DLC that may have slipped under their radar. We appreciate the amazing support from all publishers and developers out there!
Anno 117: Pax Romana
Available Now
Ahhh yes! Pax is one of the most polished, beautiful, and fully realized modern city-builders in years, and that’s saying something in a crowded and inconsistent genre. The level of detail is astonishing, from bustling marketplaces to sprawling forums, and the gameplay accommodates both hardcore planners and players who just want to sit back and watch their civilization flourish. Whether you want precision micromanagement or laid-back empire gazing, Pax Romana is easily one of the standout entries in the genre.
Even for those who don’t normally jump for this genre, Pax may just change that old, cold heart of yours. Now, come, enjoy citizen!
Lumines Arise
Available Now
What a near-perfect little game we have here as Lumines Arise dazzles the senses with stunning visuals and an intoxicating soundtrack, delivering a modernized spin on a timeless puzzle classic. The game looks and sounds downright incredible, blending trance-like rhythms and hypnotic effects into an experience you can’t put down. A few minor hiccups pop up here and there, but the core gameplay shines brighter than ever with smooth, stylish, and endlessly satisfying for both newcomers and long-time fans.
You need this game. Period.
Age of Wonders 4: Thrones of Blood
Available Now
Age of Wonders 4 just keeps on keepin’ on. Thrones is a jaw-droppingly gorgeous and richly atmospheric DLC that pulls you straight into its dark-themed fantasy world. But don’t let the beauty fool you, this expansion can be absolutely punishing, offering difficulty spikes that will leave even seasoned strategists sweating. Still, for fans of the series or anyone who loves a darker, blood-soaked twist on their fantasy realms, Thrones of Blood is a gruesome delight worth diving into.
Halloween may have past but for those who want something creepy and kooky, this is for you!
Winter Survival
November 19th
Dark, gritty, brutally realistic, and absolutely not for the faint of heart, this a survival game that demands focus, patience, and a willingness to endure the cold both literally and figuratively. The release has come a long way, with significant improvements (especially regarding wildlife encounters), but it still isn’t completely polished.
Still, for fans of unforgiving, immersive survival experiences, this game hits hard in all the right ways and delivers a chilling, rewarding trek through the frozen wilderness.
Where Winds Meet
Available Now
Yet another tough gaming entry to score. Where Winds Meet is one of the toughest games to review because it’s a wild blend of soaring highs and frustrating lows. The gorgeous environments, cinematic style, and solid wuxia action are undeniable strengths, but they’re often offset by odd design choices, uneven pacing, and mechanics that don’t quite mesh. Ultimately, this is a title crafted for hardcore wuxia devotees who can overlook flaws in favor of atmosphere and ambition, casual players will find it a harder sell. It’s a cinematic masterpiece in so many ways yet it could be so much more as an online game. Either way, there is something to love I am sure and definitely one of the better F2P offerings as of late.
Risk free alert: Give it a try for yourself as it is free to play!
Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition
Available Now
Well, here we are again. This AE reminds us once again that Fallout 4 is a modern masterpiece, but also makes us question if we really needed another release packed with items and add-ons many of us already have. Still, if somehow you’ve never journeyed through the Commonwealth wasteland before, this is the definitive version to pick up. It’s the full package: Iconic story, deep RPG systems, excellent shooting just don’t expect longtime fans to be shocked by what’s inside.
This was very hard to score because the game and DLC are masterpieces. This release and collection? Maybe not as much.
