Revenge of the Savage Planet
If you’re after a colorful adventure set on some incredibly strange landscapes, then Revenge of the Savage Planet has you covered! Journeying into the depths of an overgrown and mutated Earth, RotSP sets players loose into a world of wonder and intrigue, plagued with hazards at just about every turn. The thing I loved most about this title is the unapologetic focus on adventure. Thanks to its high-tech tools and verticality, this title allows players to just have a good time, no questions asked. It’s not as limitless as a game like Minecraft, but the focus on doing whatever you want in its already established world begs for players to uncover every nook and cranny.
Hordes of Hunger
Roguelikes are a dime a dozen these days. Though most of them follow the formula without deviation, delivering something that’s expected. That’s kind of where Hordes of Hunger falls. The game doesn’t offer too many twists and turns to its core gameplay overall. But I’d say that the thing that differentiates this title from others is its visuals and setting. With a gothic backdrop and undead enemies afoot, Hordes of Hunger offers something for spooky girlies to play for a few hours, while boosting bodycounts. However, this title does indeed need a bit more polish for the visuals to be done justice.
Trident’s Tale!
Following closely to my complaints about the previous title, Trident’s Tale! offers players great creative ideas on the visuals and setting, though not in gameplay. This title feels a lot like a stripped-back version of Sea of Thieves, but with a clunky bit of movement added in. I can appreciate what the devs were trying to accomplish here, but gameplay is just boring overall. Naval combat is a highlight, but very basic. Visually, again, this title has some great moments, but the majority just miss the mark.
