In response to a milestone record of 10.5 million copies of Rocket League sold, and over 29 million registered players, Kinda Funny Games held an interview with Jeremy Dunham, Vice President of Psyonix.
The 29 million players ranges from the splitscreen players, Playstation Plus users who got the game in July 2015, and a surprisingly impressive growth two years after later, in February 2017, which brought a fourth of the players on the game now!
In the 53 minute live interview, in the video below, Dunham explains that they have no plans to create a Rocket League 2 or any other game that would be a sequel. He even is quoted, "Why would we want to take this huge community that we've already built, that's still growing, and say, 'What you're playing now is going to be irrelevant in 12 months, but we want you to stop what you're doing, giving us money all over again, and move over to this other game.' That's not the right way to do things. I think that era of games has passed."
