What if you took the original Grand Theft Auto games tossed them into a medieval setting? Modus Games’ latest sandbox title, Rustler does just that. You’ll play as the game’s lead character Guy, as he lies, cheats, and steals in order to win the Grand Tournament and the Princess's hand. It’s a fantastic-looking game that like the GTA series, doesn’t take itself too seriously. In fact, I’d say that Rustler may even go further with its satire and being a straight-up parody in some cases.
It’s purposely historically inaccurate with things like pop-culture references and knight chases where they’ll pursue you like cops would with their horses sporting red/blue blinking lights. Of course like in any open-world game, there are also mini-games that help pass the time. Rustler has taxi services, horse races, MMA fights, and more to add to the entire experience. As a huge fan of the OG GTA games and Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this is one of my most anticipated games. Hopefully, it releases soon!
Rustler is currently in early access on Steam but will be releasing on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch as the Modus puts it, “when the time comes”.
