Whether you prefer a hands-on approach or a simple gameplay trailer to find out if you are interested in an upcoming title, indie developers Phigames and publisher Dear Villagers are giving you what you need to get interested in their latest game Recompile. While they have a free demo available on their Steam page, they also recently released 8 minutes of gameplay for their Summer of Gaming 2020 trailer. You can find this trailer above.
If you can’t tell what’s going on, you play as a semi-sentient program that is trying to avoid deletion. It is a Metroidvania-inspired title with a 3D world provided to go with its sci-fi theme. It is by far one of the most unconventional Metroidvania titles, but being the first to put a spin on a genre could be the beginning of a new beloved series.
Feel free to just watch the video and share your thoughts with the developers in the comments, but in my opinion, there is nothing like a hands-on experience. Since the demo is free, then it’s worth seeing what this indie team really has to offer with Recompile.
