You know I am always a sucker for N64 era games (early 3D games) getting the remaster treatment. Seeing classics like Turok, Turok 2, and Forsaken get new life on a multitude of new platforms for a new generation of gamers to discover and play is awesome! Now we have word that a new remaster is coming for the 1999 game Shadow Man! This interesting title was based on a comic book of the same name and released across PS1, N64, Dreamcast, and PC and had players assume the role of Michael LeRoi as he fought off threats to the mortal world from legions of darkness. The game was fairly well-received back in the day, so it seems the perfect candidate to get the remaster treatment!
Shadow Man Remastered will be handled by Nightdive Studio who’s previous remaster work happens to include all of the games I mentioned above and more! Most recently the company even announced that it is bringing back the long thought lost Blade Runner game from Westwood Studios. For Shadow Man, the company is planning to once again employ its "KEX" engine to update the game’s visuals and effects plus implement higher 4K resolutions. No release window has yet been given for the title but we do know the release is slated for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
I have to admit I am interested in this release as the premise of Shadow Man freaked me out a bit back in 1999. I have owned the N64 version for a while now but still haven’t even touched it. Perhaps this new remaster will finally make me take the leap and see what the game was all about. What do you all think of the news of a Shadow Man remaster?
