Nine months have just flown by since Shadow Man: Remastered made its way onto PC, and now, console owners are able to experience this cult classic in all of its updated-visual glory. While originally developed by Acclaim Studios back in 1999, the remaster was helmed by Nightdive Studios and published by Valiant Entertainment in order to breathe a bit of new life into the game.
Using Nightdive’s proprietary KEX engine which they just so happen to have been using with a lot of their most recent projects such as System Shock: Enhanced Edition, Turok, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, Blood: Fresh Supply, and Forsaken Remastered, new and returning players are in for a treat. Playing on the PlayStation or Xbox family of consoles you’ll see the biggest difference in visuals as it utilizes 4K 60FPS throughout.
Key Features:
4K 60FPS visuals on PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X
Trophies and Achievements on PlayStation and Xbox consoles
Gyro-aiming on Nintendo Switch
Anti-aliasing and other post-processing magic
A whole new visual experience with dynamic shadow mapping and per-pixel lighting
Never-before-seen content previously cut from the original game
We had a chance to play the game last year on PC when it launched. While we weren’t too keen on its gameplay controls and some mechanics that should’ve been updated, the game is incredibly unforgettable in a lot of ways. We were lucky enough to score a review key for a console version so be sure to check out our Lite Review for it when it goes live tomorrow!
Shadow Man: Remaster is currently available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC (Steam, GOG, and the Epic Game Store). The game will be released tomorrow (January 17, 2022) for the Nintendo Switch as well. The game is priced at $19.99 via any digital storefront of your choosing.
