SHENMUE 1 and 2 Heading to PS4, Xbox One, and PC This Year

Shenmue, Sega’s classic title for the Dreamcast is coming to current generation consoles this year. During the Sega Res event that happened in Japan, Sega revealed that it would be bringing the first Shenmue game and its sequel, Shenmue II, as one collection, which will eventually launch for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC later this year.

Initially launched in 1999, the first Shenmue game was the most expensive video game ever created at the time of its release. In 2001, Sega launched the follow-up sequel and was only available for the Dreamcast in Europe and Japan. Shenmue 2 was later ported to the original Xbox in 2002.

The series revolves around Ryo Hazuki, a martial artist who is on a personal mission to discover the person behind his father’s murder and to uncover the truth behind a mysterious item known as the Dragon Mirror. Shenmue 1 and 2 were praised for the innovative open-world system, in-depth storytelling, and immersive battle system.

Currently, Sega has not revealed details on the pricing of the collection or the specific date on when it will be released. However, Shenmue 1 & 2 Collection will be launched in both physical and digital versions, with the latter being available from PSN, Xbox Store, and Steam.
