Developer Mediatonic has launched the puzzler-meets-crime-novel Murder by Numbers, and early reviews are praising the novel gaming experience where pixel puzzles and crime procedurals blend into an immersive narrative.
In Murder by Numbers, players will solve puzzles, interrogate witnesses, and uncover the truth of what happened.
Here’s the story as we know it:
Los Angeles, 1996. Honor Mizrahi was just an actress on a hit TV detective show. But when her boss ends up dead just minutes after he fires her, she finds herself starring in her own murder mystery. Teaming up with SCOUT, a reconnaissance robot thrown away after a mysterious incident, she sets out to clear her name—and a new detective duo is born!
Just as exciting as the murder investigation and puzzles that players must solve is the soundtrack from famed composer Masakazu Sugimori, who worked on Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Ghost Trick, and Viewtiful Joe. It’s an experience that you won’t want to miss.
Murder by Numbers is available for the Nintendo Switch via the eShop and PC via Steam.
